Potters Cross Path and Information Enhancement Project
‘Connecting the community to Common Wood, all year round’
Following recent improvement works at the Potter Cross entrance to Common Wood, we are pleased to confirm the successful completion of the Potter Cross Path and Information Enhancement Project.
The project has delivered a new all-weather path surface from the Potters Cross entrance through to Boundary Ride, significantly improving accessibility and usability throughout the year. Final works were completed on 19 January 2026 with the installation of a new map orientation lectern, designed to complement the signage recently introduced at the Common Wood main entrance.
The project was generously funded by the Penn & Tylers Green Tuesday Walking Group, the Beaconsfield & Chepping Wye Community Board, and a local resident who wishes to remain anonymous.
These improvements will enable walkers, cyclists and other woodland users to enjoy a firmer, less muddy route, improving navigation and helping to reduce the need to drive to the main entrance. The enhancements support greater access to Common Wood while protecting the surrounding environment.
