Quiz Night Raises over £3500

Even the weather of Storm Austen didn’t stop the quizzers of Penn and Tylers Green from coming out again to support the latest P&TGRS quiz night held at Tylers Green Village Hall.
Coinciding with October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, proceeds from the event were in aid of breast cancer support charity – chemogiftbags.com  – created to bring comfort and positivity to individuals undergoing chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer.  We were delighted to welcome founder Lynne Shipton, who shared her own very personal story and how the charity was then founded.
Famed locally for her postbox toppers, Christine Walker very kindly donated her crochet hearts with all money raised from their sales on the night going to Chemogiftbags.
Thanks to Sharon Herron and her team for preparing ‘brain food’, aka the pre quiz canapes!
Mike Morley and Ruthie Pocock  were again the presenters who somehow kept the quiz teams in order and navigated them through the various rounds, ensuring that every team played their jokers to maximise their chances of winning.
Some quite remarkable knowledge was yet again demonstrated by the teams who battled it out for the pride of their table groups.
As well as supporting P&TGRS, many quizzers kindly brought along donations for One Can Trust and we thank all who contributed on their behalf.
Cameron and Matt were kept busy behind the bar all evening and everyone supported the raffle and joined in the game of Head or Tails.

Congratulations to the Penn Ultimates who were victorious in a very tight competition with just 10 points between first and sixth place, but the real winner was chemogiftbags, who will benefit from over £3,500 raised from our most generous local businesses via donations, those who attended / bought ticket together with raffle / bar sales on the night.

Thank you to everyone for supporting this event; sponsors and supporters; the volunteers who organised and staffed the evening and (perhaps most importantly) the quizzers who attended.

P&TGRS is a registered charity and everything we do is for the local community, whether that be through financial donations or our volunteers giving their time to help in and around the village.  If you would like to find out more including who we have supported in the past and how to apply for funds for a local project, click here.
