Volunteering

Woodland Volunteers

We depend on volunteers for maintenance tasks such as

  • siding and clearing paths
  • removing non native plants
  • preparing logs for sale
  • pulling ragwort in Farther Barn field
  • clearing drainage channels
  • other tasks as they arise.

We train suitable volunteers on powered equipment and First Aid to comply with Health and Safety and insurance requirements.

We hold work parties on the second and fourth Tuesday and first and second Saturday mornings each week.  We start at 10am and work for a couple of hours. It is a great opportunity to make new friends while doing something useful and keeping fit. We generally provide free tea and coffee and if we are lucky we may get cake, courtesy of one of the volunteers. We ask you bring a cup.

To help or get more information, please email your name and contact details to woods@pennandtylersgreen.org.uk to register your interest and receive information about activities, including where to meet for each work party.

If you complete 10 sessions or more in a year, you will get the full benefits of being a Friend of Common Wood, to acknowledge your ongoing commitment to our Woodlands.
