About P&TGRS

SignpostThe Penn & Tylers Green Residents Society (P&TGRS) was formed in the spring of 2003 from a merger of the former Penn & Tylers Green Residents Association and Penn & Tylers Green Society, both of which dated back to the 1960s. It is a body represented entirely by local people and exists to better the quality of life for all the residents of the two Chiltern villages of Penn and Tylers Green.

The Society converted to a Charitable Company during the course of 2003 and it is run by a group of up to 15 Trustees who are Directors of the Company. The Society’s objectives are to promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the inhabitants of the two villages. Among these are : to advance education; to provided facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure -time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; to promote high standards of planning and architecture in or affecting Penn and Tylers Green; to educate and stimulate discussion on matters relating to the history, architecture, natural history and geography of the area; to secure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of historic, architectural, or public interest in the area; to secure protection, conservation and enhancement of the wildlife and countryside in or affecting the two villages.

All residents who live in the Tylers Green Ward of Chepping Wycombe Parish Council or in Ward UA of Penn Parish Council are considered members, unless they notify the Secretary that they do not want to be. All members are entitled to attend or have their views represented at meetings of the Board of Trustees, the AGM and any Special General Meeting. They are also able to set out their views by writing to the Editor of “Village Voice”, the local magazine for Penn and Tylers Green, which is distributed bi-monthly free of charge to every home in the village.

Our locality is surrounded by an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Green Belt, and parts of the two villages are in a large Joint Conservation Area, so it is hardly surprising that some of the Residents Society’s objectives are concerned with conservation and wider environmental issues.

All the company’s regulatory and statutory information viz. our Memorandum, Articles of Association, Company Rules, Standing Orders, Statutory Accounts and statement of Membership are available on the Residents Society page. The Board of Directors and key Sub-Committees,  whose members undertake much of the day to day work of the P&TGRS, are listed on the same page.
